   GLANDORF - Arnold H. Borgelt, 89, of Glandorf died at 2:45 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2017 at his residence. He was born July 25, 1927 in Glandorf to the late Albert and Clara (Meyer) Borgelt. On June 3, 1953 he married Teresa Maag and she survives in Glandorf.

    Also surviving are five children: Greg (Alice) Borgelt of Glandorf, Jane Borgelt of Columbus, Nancy (Jeff) Fortman of Columbus Grove, Shirley (Dave) Siefker of Bluffton and Amy (Gerald) Recker of Glandorf; a son-in-law, Randy Ellerbrock of Glandorf;  twelve grandchildren: Jessica Ellerbrock, Dr. Kate (William Marts) Ellerbrock, Chas Ellerbrock, Andrea (Mark) Bishop, Michael (Barbara) Fortman, Evan Fortman, Shelby Borgelt, Logan Borgelt, Kyle Siefker, Joel Siefker, Abigail (Nathan) Weis and Elizabeth Recker; four great-grandchildren: Alexa, Ethan, Laina and Oliver; a step great-grandchild, Issac;  a brother-in-law, Edwin Steffan of Leipsic; and several special nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.

  He was preceded in death by a daughter, Elaine Ellerbrock; a great-grandchild, Emily Rose Fortman; two brothers: Alexander and Lawrence Borgelt; and a sister, Mary Steffan.

   Arnie was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf where he served on the Parish Council, was a member of the Holy Name Society, a Eucharistic Minister and a mass server.

   Arnie was a member of the Glandorf Rod and Gun Club, Ottawa Eagles and the Farm Bureau. He was a faithful Red Cross Blood Donor, 10 gallons plus. He loved gardening, mowing and enjoyed hunting and playing cards with family and friends. He especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events and O-G Titan games.

   A Mass of Christian Burial will begin 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 8, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr. Tony Fortman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be a Parish Rosary at 7:30 p.m. 

  Memorials may be made to St. John the Baptist Capital Campaign, Cancer Assistance program (CAP) or to Putnam County Hospice.
