Betty J. Dewar
LEIPSIC – Betty J. Dewar, 93, of Leipsic passed away peacefully at 9:41 a.m., Saturday, February 17, 2018. She was born October 2, 1924 in Leipsic to the late Clarence C. and Crystal C. (Agner) Berger. On September 24, 1944, she married Donald Dewar. He passed away January 10, 1990.
Survivors include two children: Darlene (Donald) Dorman of Leipsic and Douglas (Annette) Dewar of Bowling Green; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren and a sister Janet MacDonald of Leipsic.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Dewar; a granddaughter, Haley Dewar; and infant sister, Dolores Berger and a brother-in-law, Richard MacDonald.
Betty worked for Michigan Bell and moved to Leipsic. She then worked for the Leipsic Telephone Company and Leipsic School cafeteria. Betty was a very active member of the First Lutheran Church, Leipsic where she taught Sunday school. She was a member of the Leipsic American Legion Auxiliary 287 and past president. Betty was Senior Citizen of the year in 2000, a former Cub Scout leader and member of the Leipsic book club.
A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at the First Lutheran Church, Leipsic with Rev. Tim Hauenstein officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Ridge Cemetery, Leipsic. Visitation will be from 10 - 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the church.
Memorial donations may be given to the church or to the Make a Wish Foundation Toledo Chapter in Memory of Haley Dewar.
