Betty R. Herr

   CONTINENTAL – Betty R. Herr, 75, of Continental died at 1:50 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Brookdale in Findlay. She was born September 1, 1940 in Continental to the late Victor and Vernece (Thomas) Geckle, Sr.  On July 17, 1962 she married Arthur E. Herr, Sr. who died October 23, 1992.

   She is survived by three sons: Art (Alicia) Herr, Sr. of Pikeville, KY, Terry Herr of Defiance, and Dennis (Celia) Herr of Fostoria; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and four brothers: Junior (Marsha) Geckle of Continental, Forrest (Deb) Geckle of North Creek, Vic (Mary) Geckle, Jr. of Continental, and Ron (Tammy) Geckle of Kalida. She was also preceded in death by a sister: Judy Kaufman.

    Betty had worked at Philips, formerly of Ottawa. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Continental.  She enjoyed playing music, singing, square dancing, and camping. Betty loved spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren and also enjoyed spending time with the residents of local nursing homes.

   Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2016 at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental with Pastor Charles Schmunk officiating. Burial will follow in Monroe Cemetery, Continental. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
