Diane M. Smith

   Lima - Diane M. Smith, 64, of Lima, formerly of Kalida, died 9:50 a.m. Thursday, May 18, 2017 at the Meadows of Kalida.   She was born July 21, 1952 in Lima to the late Gilbert and Regina (Heitmeyer) Smith.

   Diane is survived by a brother and three sisters: John (Ruth) Smith of Kalida, Mary Ann Schroeder of Columbus Grove, Alice (James) Flaherty of Hershey, PA, and Helen (Robert) Unverferth of Kalida. Diane was very close to her many nieces and nephews and their families. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Smith and a brother-in-law, John Schroeder.

   Diane worked for Marimor Industry in Lima. She was a former member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Kalida and was a current member of St. Gerard’s Catholic Church, Lima. She graduated from Ft. Jennings High School in 1971and was a long time attendee of Connecting Point Dayhab. She was a member of Venture Crew Club, was involved in Special Olympics, and the Marimor Bowling League. Diane loved the weekly bowling and enjoyed karaoke. She looked forward to and enjoyed family gatherings and loved holding the newest babies.

   A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2017 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Kalida with Fr. Mark Hoying officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.

   The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at RMS for the many years of dedication and service to Diane.

   Memorials may be made to Putnam County Hospice or to the Allen County Special Olympics.
