Donald L. Harter

   CONTINENTAL – Donald L. Harter, 84, of Continental passed away Saturday, December 31, 2017 at St Rita's Medical Center, Lima. He was born in Oakwood, Ohio, January 11, 1933 to the late Orville C. and Evelyn M. (Thrasher) Harter. On June 1, 1957 he married Mary Lou Blankemeier who survives.

   He is also survived by his 2 sons: Ron (Susan) Harter, and Ken Harter, both of Continental; 2 brothers: Bert Harter of Grover Hill and Gary (Connie) Harter of Oakwood; 4 grandchildren: Melissa (Rob) Winkle, Michelle (Kyle) Martin, Ben (Brandy) Harter and Matt Harter; 7 great grandchildren: Brynleigh & Adelyn Martin, Addison & Aubrey Winkle, Elijah, B.J. & Kaiden Harter, and many nieces and nephews.

   He was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Roy in infancy, John Harter and Orville Harter Jr; 3 sisters: Bonnie Tumblin, Diane Harter and Patsy Winhover; 2 great grandchildren: Cayden & Connor Winkle.    

   Don was a US Army veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict. He was a farmer and retired from Zeller Corporation in Defiance. He was a member of The Moose Lodge in Defiance, Continental American Legion Post #541, Eagles of Ottawa, 40-8 of Toledo and the AMVETS of Defiance.

        Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 4, 2018 at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental with Fr. Mark Hoying officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday. Burial will follow in Monroe Cemetery, Continental with military rites by the Continental American Legion Post #541.

   Memorial donations may be given to that of the donor's choice.
