Floyd E. Roof

   Miller City - Floyd E. Roof, 91, of Miller City died 2:25 a.m. Thursday, August 18, 2016 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.  He was born November 10, 1924 in Allen County, Ohio to the late Benedict A. and Veronica (Lammers) Roof.  On July 4, 1951, he married Miriam D. Schauder who died July 19, 2004.

  Floyd is survived by five children: Dean (Dana) Roof of Rogers City, MI, Gary Roof of Ottawa, Don (Brenda) Roof of Miller City, Barb (Bob) Murray of Virginia Beach, VA and Janet Richardson of Ottawa;  10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and a sister: Viola Wenzinger of New Bavaria.  He is also preceded in death by a son: Paul Roof and a brother-in-law: Joe Wenzinger.

   Floyd retired from Ford Lima Engine Plant and was a life long farmer.   He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Miller City,  Miller City American Legion Post #172, Miller City Sportsman's Club; Ottawa VFW Post #9124 and Ottawa Eagles. He was a graduate of Miller City High School, class of 1943.  Floyd was a US Army veteran serving in WWII where he was awarded the Bronze Star.  Many could see him in his later years tooling around the neighborhood in his blue buggy.

   A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 22, 2016 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Miller City, with Fr. Stephen Schroeder officiating.   Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with military rites by Ottawa VFW and Miller City American Legion.   Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa, where there will be a scripture service at 1:45 p.m. and a VFW service at 7 p.m.

   Memorials may be given to the charity of donor's choice.
