Frederick B. Fortman

  Van Wert - Frederick B. Fortman, 88, of Van Wert, died 12:25 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2016 at  St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.  He was born October 3, 1928 in Kalida to the late Frederick A. and Hilda (Kuhlman) Fortman.   On August 27, 1049, he married Roselyn "Rose" Siefker who died September 17, 2014.

   He is survived by his 8 children: John (Catherine) Fortman of Ottawa, Joe (Sherry) Fortman of Van Wert, Jeff (Nancy) Fortman of Columbus Grove, Fred (Cindy) Fortman, Jr. of  Ottawa, Jerome Fortman of Van Wert, Jay Fortman of Van Wert, Jack Fortman of Van Wert and Jane (Jerry) Dickey of Ottawa; 17 grandchildren, 18 Great-grandchildren and 3 Great-great-grandchildren and 2 brothers: Paul (Joyce) Fortman of Ottawa and Jerry Fortman of Columbus Grove.   He was also preceded by a brother, Kenneth Fortman.

   Frederick was longtime owner of  Fortman Dry Cleaners and Linen Service.  He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa.  He was a veteran of US Navy, serving during WWII.  He was a Honor Flight participant.  He enjoyed bowling, boating, fishing , camping, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

   A Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, with Fr. Tony Fortman officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by Ottawa VFW and American Legion.  Visitation will be Tuesday 2 to 8 p.m. at LOVE  FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa with a scripture service held at 7:45 p.m.

    Memorials may be given to Flag City Honor Flight or charity of donor's choice.
