OTTAWA - Harold L. Kaufman, 78, of Ottawa died at 5:08 a.m. Friday, December 4, 2015 at The Meadows of Ottawa. He was born January 29, 1937 in New Cleveland to the late Vincent and Lucy (Frank) Kaufman. On April 25, 1959 he married Lenora Schuller and she survives in Ottawa.
Also surviving are 5 children: Mike (Nancy) Kaufman of Ottawa, Glenn (Jill) Kaufman of Glandorf, Nick (Jane) Kaufman of Glandorf, Leslie (Chris) DePiero of Macedonia, and Kris (Kevin) Durczynski of Oregon; 17 grandchildren: Sara (Thomas) Kight, Leigh Ann Kaufman, Benjamin Kaufman, Taylor Durczynski, Allison Kaufman, Luke Kaufman, Jeanette Kaufman, Kayla Durczynski, Emily Kaufman, Leah DePiero, Jeremy Kaufman, Michael DePiero, Jeffrey Kaufman, Noah Durczynski, Jay Kaufman, Jonathan DePiero, and Will Kaufman; 3 great-grandchildren: Carter Kight, Bryce Brown, and Elias Kight; 3 brothers: Ralph Kaufman of Glandorf, John Kaufman of Ottawa, and Thomas (Carol) Kaufman of Glandorf; 4 sisters: Irene Morman of Ottawa, Rosemary (Tom) Wolke of Glandorf, Phyllis (Bob) Frey of Ottawa, and Joyce Yant of Ottawa; and a sister-in-law: Irene Kaufman of Ottawa. He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers: Virgil and Richard Kaufman.
Harold was an auto body mechanic. He was a member of the Army National Guard, the Ottawa Knights of Columbus 3rd degree, and the Ottawa Eagles. He was a faithful catholic and a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa. He was an usher for 40 years. Harold was a devoted husband and father, easy going and hard working, who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events. He loved fishing, playing euchre, and cars.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 7, 2015 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Matt Jozefiak officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be a K of C service at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to Sts. Peter and Paul School or to Putnam County Hospice.
