Jeffrey Lynn Schreiber

   Leipsic -- Jeffrey Lynn Schreiber, 74, of Leipsic, died 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at The Meadows of Leipsic due to congestive heart failure. He was born September 14, 1941 in Leipsic, to the late Larry "Bud" and Evelyn Garwood (Brecht) Schreiber. On June 16, 1986 he married Catherine Colleen Romaker Butler who survives in Leipsic.

    Jeff is also survived by seven children: Leah Schreiber, Jay (Sara) Schreiber  both of Lima, Jesse Schreiber, Timothy (Debra) Butler, Michael (Chris) Butler, Samantha (Sammy) Hollan, and Patrick (Sirena Vogt) Butler all of Leipsic; 2 brothers: Michael (Joyce) Schreiber of Pennsylvania, and Tom (Paula) Davis of McClure and a sister: Sherry Scheffer of McClure; twenty  grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by his faithful dog, CoCo. He was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter: Faith Rieman.  

    He was retired from the Putnam County Sheriff's Department, was a former Chief of Police in Ottawa, Leipsic, and Deshler, and he was a Chief Correctional Officer of Putnam County Sherriff Dept. Jeff was a member of the Masons Sycamore Lodge #0520 in Deshler, Leipsic Eagles Arie #2703, Leipsic VFW #9547, Deshler American Legion Post 316, Toledo 40/8, Putnam County Fraternal Order of Police, and he was a veteran of the U.S. Army.  

    The Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 29, 2015 at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic, with Pastor Tom Graves officiating.  Burial will follow in Sugar Ridge Cemetery with military rites by the Leipsic VFW and Deshler American Legion.  Visitation will be Saturday from 2 to 8 p.m., where there will be a Masonic Service at 7:45 p.m.  and Sunday, one hour prior to the service all at the funeral home.    

   Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
