Jerry E. Matson

     Oakwood -- Jerry E. Matson, 79, of Oakwood died 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Parkview North, Fort Wayne, IN.  He was born April 18, 1936 in Paulding, County, OH to the late Lawrence and Anna (Thomas) Matson.  On October 27, 1973 he married Catherine Bland, who survives in Oakwood.

     Also surviving are 2 sisters:  Janet (Orville) Bidlack of Oakwood and Thelma Thomas of New Haven, IN.  Jerry is preceded in death by a brother:  John Ed "Eddie" Matson and a nephew:  Tim Bidlack.

     Jerry was a life-long farmer and part owner of Oakwood Auto Parts.  He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a former member of the Moose Lodge, Defiance.  Jerry was a past member of Prairie Chapel Church.

     The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 24th at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Oakwood with Rev. Stan Harmon officiating.  Burial will follow in Prairie Chapel Cemetery.   Visitation will be Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. and 1 hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
