Joan "Joanie" Kuhlman

     Ms. Joan "Joanie" Martha Kuhlman, of Pandora, OH passed away on Friday, September 23rd, 2016 at the age of 77.

     Joan was born to the late Elmer and Martha Kuhlman on February 3, 1939 in Leipsic, OH. She grew up as the eldest of four and attended Leipsic High School.  After graduation in 1957, Joan went to work for the State of Ohio.  She then married Richard E. Geib and the couple had three children whom she loved with all her heart.

     In 1977, Joan embarked on a new adventure to start a clothing company with her sister Marilyn called MarJo’s Fashions in Ottawa, OH.  Their hard work ethic and willingness to constantly travel to the bigger cities allowed then to bring latest fashion designs to a smaller community.  Many wonderful stories and great memories were within the families then.

     In 1980, Joan started work at a new start-up company at Patrick Plastics.  She performed many duties, i.e. interviewing new incoming hires, accounts payables and receivables, negotiating health insurance and personnel. While working here she remarried Ronald Staudt.

     Joan and Ron later went on to get their real estate license and Joan went to work for Berty Schwarz Realty and Spencer Realty.  She worked in the real estate market until she retired and started babysitting to keep herself busy.

     Joan also kept herself busy with the things she loved to do the most.  She was an avid tennis player and joined tennis tournaments/leagues in her area. She took much pride in being able to find antique and distressed furniture and refurbish them to new. She was also heavily involved with interior decorating.

     Joan is survived by her children: Richard (Dena) Geib, Tulsa, OK,  Jody (Ross) Maag, Ottawa, OH and  Bart (Lori) Geib, Columbus, OH; her sisters: Diane Ricker, Marilyn Kuhlman Miehls and Barb (Dean) Sager; eight grandchildren: Emily Maag, Austin Maag, Jody Schroeder, Courtney Maag, Dylan Geib, Hannah Maag, Alyssa Maag and Ryan Geib. She is preceded in death by her husbands: Richard Geib and Ronald Staudt; her parents: Elmer Kuhlman and Martha (Marty) Closson; and nephew: Ronald Miehls.

     Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Love Funeral Home, 405 East Third St., Ottawa, OH.  The family wishes to thank everyone for their condolences.
