Michael V. Burgei

  KALIDA - Michael V. Burgei, 64, of Kalida died 9:17 p.m., Monday, October 17, 2016 at St. Rita's Medical Center.  He was born December 23, 1951 in Lima to the late Robert M. and Agnes C. (Verhoff) Burgei.  On November 30, 1974, he married Janet Grone and she survives in Kalida.

  Other survivors include three children: Michele Barnett of Ottawa, Lori (Tony) Schmersal of Ottoville and Eric Burgei of Kalida; five grandchildren: Nicholas Barnett, Katie Barnett, Natalie Barnett, Nathan Barnett, and Faith Feldman; and four siblings: Mary Louise (Steven) Coleson of Ottawa, Dorothy (Leo) Schroeder of Glandorf, Joanna (David) Slattman of Continental, and Dennis (Tina) Burgei of Glandorf.

  He was also preceded in death by a son-in-law: Michael Feldman and a nephew: Brian Schroeder.

  Michael had worked for Streacker Tractor Sales in Findlay.  He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida and the Kalida Knights of Columbus.  He collected, repaired, and sold farm toys and built model cars.  He also loved horses and anything John Deere.

  A Mass of Christian Burial will begin 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 21, 2016 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida with Fr. Mark Hoying officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m., Thursday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township where a K of C rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m.
