Rita C. Weis

   New Cleveland - Rita C. Weis, 91, of  Ottawa, died 12:15 a.m., Thursday, August 17, 2017 at  St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.  She was born October 19, 1925 in Ottoville to the late Walter and Mary (Krieger) Calvelage.  On August 31, 1963, she married Gumar Weis who died December 6, 2002.

   Rita is survived by two children: Nate (Lisa) Weis of Ottawa, Lisa Thompson of Malibu, CA and three grandchildren: Brandon, Camryn and Ethan Weis.   She also preceded in death by a son-in-law: John Thompson; four brothers: Otmar Calvelage, Lee (Maneta) Calvelage, Gene and Arthur Calvelage and a sister, Loretta (Louie) Hoffman.

   Rita formerly worked at Boss Glove Manufacturing; was a homemaker and helped her husband on the farm. She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, New Cleveland and its Altar Rosary Society; CLC, Golden Stepper and the Red Hat Society.  She was very active and loved to work out at the YMCA, all the way thru her 80's.  Rita was a devoted wife, caring mother and grandmother,  she was simply "The Best".

   A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 21, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church, New Cleveland, with MSGR Charles E. Singler officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.   Visitation will be Sunday, 4 to 8 p.m. at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.

   Memorials may be given to Putnam County Hospice.
