Robert Bernard “Bob” Brinkman

     KALIDA – Robert Bernard “Bob” Brinkman, 90 of Kalida died 12:30 a.m. Sunday, July 16, 2017 at his residence.  He was born May 19, 1927 in Greensburg Township, Putnam County to the late Harry and Mary (Rose) Brinkman.  He married his sweetie, JoAnn Clark on April 14, 1951 and they just celebrated 66 years of marriage.  JoAnn survives in Kalida.

     He is also survived by his 6 children:  Sandy (Kenny) Buss of Kalida, Robert “Bob” Brinkman, Jr. of Waynesfield, Steve Brinkman of Defiance, Roger “Rookie” (Becky) Brinkman, Janice (Luke) Stechschulte and Don Brinkman, all of Kalida; 11 grandchildren:  Dr. James (Dr. Leanne) Buss, Kevin Buss, Charlie (Tonya) Buss, Kari (Jason) Blevins, Holly Brinkman, Carrie (Champy) Halim, Keith (Allyson) Franks, Justin (Roz) Brinkman, Jerad Hanefeld, Rachael Stechschulte, and Ben Stechschulte; and 13 great-grandchildren; and 3 brothers:  Tom (Alice) Brinkman, Jim Brinkman and John (Estella) Brinkman.

     He is preceded in death by 3 brothers:  August Brinkman, Cornelius (Jeannette) Brinkman, and Paul (Bettie) Brinkman; and 4 sisters:  Alvera (Marvin) Dangler, Lucy (Jim) Bellman, Philomena (Jessie) Lentz and Betty (Dick) Kohlhorst; and a sister-in-law:  Helen Brinkman.

     Bob served in WWII from 1945 to 1947.  He was the first employee of Remlinger Manufacturing, Kalida.  He retired 27 years ago from General Motors Foundry, Defiance where he had been a millwright for 25 years. 

     In retirement, he worked for Country Acres Golf Course maintaining the golf carts, mowed lawns for Croy’s Mowing, Ottawa, and did various other jobs.  He also repaired and made new golf clubs at home.

     A few of Bob’s joys were golfing, NASCAR races, playing cards and going to casinos.  When Bob and JoAnn could, they went on bus trips to various vacations spots and casinos.

     Bob was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Kalida and its Holy Name Society, the Knights of Columbus, Kalida, and the Kalida Fish and Game Club.  He was also a member of the Ottawa VFW and the Ottawa American Legion.  He was a former member of the Kalida Village Council.

     Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 20, 2017 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Father Mark Hoying officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery the military rites by the Ottawa VFW, American Legion and AMVETS.  Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at the LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township where a scripture service will be held at 1:45 p.m. and a K of C Rosary at 7:00 p.m.  

     Memorial contributions may be made to Putnam County Home Care and Hospice or the Putnam County Council on Aging.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.lovefuneralhome.com.
