Ruth M. Okuley

   OTTAWA - Ruth M. Okuley, 82, of Ottawa, passed away peacefully 9:10 p.m., Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at St. Rita's Hospice Care Center surrounded by her loving family. Ruth was born July 25, 1934 in Holgate to the late John and Esther (Schlotterbeck) Eis. On October 2, 1954 she married James Okuley Sr. at St Joseph Catholic Church, North Creek. Her husband of 61 years survives in Ottawa.

    She is survived by five children: Pat (Nolan) Gyetvai of Continental, Linda (Marty) Schroeder of New Cleveland, Jim Jr. (Arlene) Okuley of Continental, Bruce (Carole) Okuley, Tony Okuley both of Bluffton; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren with one on the way; and a great-great-grandchild on the way. She is also survived by a brother: John Eis of Florida; three sisters: Jeanette Brink of Holgate, Betty Guilde of Florida, Donna (Darrell) Curtis of Holgate; five in-laws: Eugene Okuley of Leipsic, Kathleen (Bill) Klausing, Gary Okuley both of Ottawa, Dick (Karen) Okuley of Glandorf, Jake Jr. (Deb) Okuley of North Creek; and many nieces and nephews.

   She was preceded in death by two sisters: Evelyn Shorts, Karen Meyer; a brother: Marvin Eis; six in-laws: Dick Gulde, Bryan Brink, Willie Meyer, Ray Shorts, Carol Okuley, and Irene Okuley.

    Ruth was a parishioner of the former St. Joseph's Catholic Church, North Creek, was a 1953 graduate of Holgate High School, and was a member of the Ohio Polka Boosters.  She was a homemaker, a devoted wife, and mother to her five children.

     A funeral service will begin 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa with Deacon Doyle Erford Officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, North Creek. Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home as well as one hour prior to the service.
