Leipsic - Virginia Ann Wortman Place, 94, of Leipsic died 11:45 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2017 at The Meadows of Leipsic. She was born November 4, 1922 in Leipsic to the late Raymond and Mary Florence (Burke) Wortman. On November 21, 1942, she married Eugene Orville Place who died March 19, 1997. Ginnie is survived by her six children: Linda (Bill) Wagner of Marysville, Larry (Lottie) Place, Paul (Diane) Place, and Jim (Sharon) Place all of Leipsic, Tracy (Gina) Place of Centerville, and Patti (Todd) Hall of Cincinnati; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Eileen Clancy of Cleveland; and a sister-in-law, Helen Place of Tampa, FL. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Larina Place; a great-great granddaughter, Faith Rieman; her sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn (Leonard) Riley and their sons, Tom and John; her brother, Thomas Wortman; brothers-in-law, Don Clancy and Don Place; and sisters-in-law, Mary Stapleton and Margie Place.
Ginnie worked in the office at Libby's and for Dr. Robert Zarzar for many years. She was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic and it's Rosary Altar Society and Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, traveling, and especially spending winters in Florida. Ginnie loved being with her family. People will remember her contagious smile and profound sense of humor.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 23, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic with Fr. William Pifher officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic and one hour prior to the mass on Thursday at the church. There will be a CLC Rosary 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
