OTTAWA - Virginia S. Vogt, 91, of Ottawa died at 4:40 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. She was born April 2, 1925 in Christian, WV to the late Arnold White and Catherine Ferguson. She married Oscar Vogt in 1945 and he preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children: Terry Baringer of Ottawa, Cathy Vogt of Ottawa, Michael Vogt of Bellefontaine, Oscar (Loretta) Vogt, Jr. of Columbus Grove, Robert (Koneta) Vogt of Columbus Grove, Linda Vogt of Ottawa, and a special daughter: Nancy Vogt of Belle Center; six grandchildren: Jim (Kim) Vogt , Joe (Alison) Vogt, Angela (Rob) Schmersal, Ryan Vogt, Jeff Lambert, and Doug Lambert; twenty great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a sister: Lilly (James) Dillinger of Leipsic. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, a brother, and two sisters.
Virginia was employed at Philips, formerly of Ottawa, for 23 years. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Ottawa, a life member of the ladies VFW auxiliary post 9142, and a member of the Ottawa Eagles ladies auxiliary. She also enjoyed reading books of all kinds, but mostly mysteries. She also enjoyed cross-stitch and in her early years, quilting. But most of all Virginia loved her church and her family.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Ottawa with Pastor Lynda Lockwood officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Harman Cemetery, Gilboa. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Monday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Lupus Foundation or to a charity of the donor's choice.
The family would like to send a thank you to the nurses of the ICU 4th floor, nurses of 5K, and all the staff and doctors at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima for taking such good care of our mother while she was a patient. Also a BIG SPECIAL thank you to Emily Kuhlman for the beautiful nails and to Lauri Gerdeman for doing her hair.
