OTTAWA- William K. "Bill" Roberts, 81, of Leipsic, formerly of Ottawa died at 9:01 a.m. Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at his residence. He was born March 28, 1936 in Columbus Grove to the late George A. and Nita R. (Williams) Roberts. On October 11, 1958 he married Audra Brower who died July 29, 2015.
He is survived by two children, Mark (Shelly) Roberts of Leipsic and Ellen (Jay) Moore of Ottoville; six grandchildren, Abbey (Dakota) Sudlow, Beau (Lyndsay) Roberts, Gabe Roberts, and Ella Roberts and Chad and Kyle Karhoff; 2 great-grandchildren: Sophie and Auden Sudlow and two sisters, Becky (Everett) Kiester of Indiana and Georgiana Wright of Michigan. He is preceded in death by a brother-in-law: Bob Wright.
Bill was founder and former owner of Roberts Sewer Service-Porta Rentals for thirty-five years. He was a 1956 graduate of Ottawa Public High School and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Ottawa. Bill was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and a member of the Ottawa American Legion, where he was a past commander. He was a member of the Ottawa Eagles where he was past Trustee, and a social member of the Ottawa VFW. He was a 50 year member of the Ottawa Lodge 325 F & A Masons, where he was a past Master and a 32° member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Toledo. He was Councilman for the Village of Ottawa for twenty years (1972-1991) with two years as president pro tem, and twenty-five years on the Ottawa Volunteer Fire Department. Bill enjoyed bowling and golf and his favorite saying was "I'm not good at either."
A Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Trinity United Methodist Church with pastors Tim Eding and Katie Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in Harmon Cemetery, Gilboa with military rites by the Ottawa American Legion, VFW and AMVETS. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa and again from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church. There will be an American Legion service Friday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
