William "Bill" E. Schroeder

   GLANDORF - William "Bill" E. Schroeder, 100, of Glandorf died at 7:40 a.m. on Friday, April 28, 2017 at The Meadows of Kalida.

   He was born on March 5, 1917 in Glandorf to the late Henry H. and Theresa (Verhoff) Schroeder.  On December 1, 1945, he married Odelia E. Diemer, who preceded him in death on June 8, 2007.

   Survivors include his 6 daughters: Ruth (Gerald C.) Schroeder of Leipsic, Virginia (Les) Schroeder of Miller City, Elizabeth "Betty" (Rick) Doepker of Findlay, Loreen (Greg) Ruhe of Glandorf, Jo Ann (Aloysius) Elwer of Fort Jennings, and Julie (Lawrence) Kleman of Findlay; 14 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

   He was preceded in death by 4 siblings: Clara Kettles, Edwin Schroeder, Norbert Schroeder, and Adelia Schroeder.

   Bill was a life long farmer from the horses to the red tractors.  He raised livestock, cows, pigs, sheep, and chickens.  He was a member of St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf, the Men's Society, and Glandorf Rod and Gun.  He enjoyed playing euchre, woodworking, cutting wood, outdoors, hunting and trapping especially with his hunting dog Blue.  He always had a farm dog.  He enjoyed his 100th birthday celebration with many family and friends at home on the farm and was a very gentle man who loved his growing family.

   Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr. Tony Fortman officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Monday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where a Scripture Service will be held at 1:45 p.m. and a Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m.

   Memorial contributions may be made to Putnam County Home Health and Hospice or St. John's Capital Campaign Fund.
