Carl B. Vorst
Kalida - Carl B. Vorst, 90, of Kalida, died 5:12 a.m., June 11, 2018 at the Meadows of Kalida. He was born May 15, 1928 in Cloverdale, Jackson Township to the late Ben and Anna (Hovest) Vorst. On May 24, 1952, he married Ruth Niese who survives in Kalida.
He is also survived by two sons, Dale (Karen) Vorst of Kalida and Joe (Char Elling) Vorst of Ft. Jennings; a son-in-law, Dwayne Ketcham of Kalida; four grandchildren, Jacob Vorst, Mindy (Eric) Stewart, Dr. Danielle (Michael) Westrick, and Brandon Vorst; two step grandchildren, Justin Ketcham and David Ketcham; four great-grandchildren, Dominic Vorst, Bristol Vorst, Alexis Westrick and Alaina Westrick; a sister, Elaine Schroeder of Columbus Grove; a brother, Tom Vorst of Cloverdale; and a sister-in-law, Mildred Vorst of Kalida. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Ketcham; a sister, Sarah Meyer; and two brothers, Elmer and Harold Vorst.
Carl was an auctioneer and former owner of Big Daddy’s Carry out, Big Daddy’s towing and Kalida Motors. He worked at the former Superior Coach, Sheller Globe, Lima. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Kalida. He was a former member of the Ottawa Eagles and the Lima Elks.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 15, 2018 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Kalida, with Fr. Mark Hoying officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., on Thursday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township.
