Charles E. Zimmerman

  CONTINENTAL - Charles E. Zimmerman, 70, of Continental died 9:55 p.m., Friday, July 20, 2018 at his residence.  He was born December 19, 1947 in Defiance to the late Floyd and Helen (Anderson) Zimmerman.  On June 25, 1976, he married Rebecca Lantow.  She died November 28, 2016.

  Survivors include two children: Randy (Angela) Zimmerman of Spencerville, IN and Lisa Forster of Ft. Wayne, IN; two grandchildren: Alexander Zimmerman and Alyssa Zimmerman; two sisters: Mary Galyk of Continental and Nancy (Al) Wick of Streetsboro; and three pets: Jr, Oscar and Coco.

  He was also preceded in death by a son Scott Zimmerman; and a brother-in-law, James Galyk.

  Charles retired from GM after 30 years and was a lifelong farmer who loved animals.  He was a Monroe Township Trustee for 16 years, a member of the Continental American Legion and had served as past Commander, and a former member of the Continental Lion's Club volunteering as Santa Claus during the holidays.  He was a member of the US Army National Guard during Vietnam.  Charles was a former member of St. John's Lutheran in Defiance and North Mount Zion in Continental.  

  Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Continental with Pastor Charles Schmunk officiating.  Burial will follow in Monroe Cemetery with military rites by the Continental American Legion.  Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at HEITMEYER FUNRAL HOME, Continental.

  Memorial donations may be made to the Continental United Methodist Church or North Mount Zion church.
