Clayton J. Maag
LEIPSIC - Clayton J. Maag, 89, of Leipsic died 2:20 a.m., January 4, 2019 at The Meadows of Ottawa. He was born September 29, 1929 in Cuba, Ohio to the late Albenus and Leona (Schmersal) Maag. On May 8, 1954 he married Dorothy Karcher. She died June 26, 2002. On October 4, 2003 he married Ellen Clementz and she survives in Leipsic.
Other survivors include children: Dan (Jeanene) Maag of Ottawa, Steve (Cindy) Maag of Ottawa, Barb (Mike) Beckett of Austin, TX, Richard Maag of Ottawa, Eric (Barbara) Maag of Continental, Carrie (Scott) Blair of Franklin, Stephanie (Trevor) Eisenbach of Sandusky, Christine (Lonnie) Short of Archbold and Louis Zechman of Leipsic; 21 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Bernice Drerup of Delphos and Georgie (Art) Westrick of New Bavaria.
He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Michael Maag and William Maag and two sisters: Jeanette Dangler and Carol Parys.
Clayton owned Leipsic Auto Body and retired in 2010. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic, Leipsic Eagles, a past member of the Ottawa Knights of Columbus and a social member of the Leipsic VFW.
A Mass of Christian burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 10, 2019 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic with Fr. William Pifher officiating. Burial will be at a later date in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Glandorf. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic as well as one hour prior to the mass Thursday at St. Mary's Parish Life Center.
