Cleora M. Winkle
KALIDA - Cleora M. Winkle, 91, of Kalida passed away at 10:15 p.m. May 29, 2018 at The Meadows of Kalida. She was born April 14, 1927 in Kalida to the late Florian and Josephine (Uphaus) Stoepfel. On May 6, 1950 she married her husband of 68 years, Robert D. Winkle who survives in Kalida.
She is also survived by seven children, Rebecca (Charles) Bockrath, Stanley (Janet) Winkle, Roger (Vicki) Winkle, Annette (Bill) Unverferth, Karen (Ken) Erhart, Dale (Patty) Winkle, and Scott (Tricia) Winkle all of Kalida; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Agnes Sager of Glandorf.
Cleora was also preceded in death by four sisters, Clara Schmitz, Laura Schroeder, Matilda Tennissen, Marietta Stoepfel; two infant sisters; and four brothers, Joseph, Gregory, Lawrence, and John Stoepfel.
Cleora was a homemaker, wife, mother, and friend. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida and its Catholic Ladies of Columbia and Altar Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Christian Mothers.
She loved to sew and was an excellent seamstress. She made all the clothes for her children when they were small and sewed costumes for her grandkids, and did alterations for many people. It was the one thing she really missed when her eyesight failed.
Cleora was also a great listener and confidant for the whole family and all their friends. She was deeply cherished and will be missed by all who knew her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2018 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida with Fr. Mark Hoying officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township where there will be a Scripture Service at 1:45 p.m.
