Cornelius "Neil" Balbaugh
MILLER CITY - Cornelius "Neil" “PeeWee” Balbaugh, 90, of Miller City died at 7:42 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at The Meadows of Leipsic surrounded by his family. He was born August 27, 1927 in Miller City to the late William and Laura (Schroeder) Balbaugh. On June 22, 1949 he married Mary M. Hanneman who survives in Miller City. They recently celebrated their 69th anniversary.
Also surviving are four children, Rick (Nancy) Balbaugh of Lima, Nancy (John) Gerding, Joe (Denise) Balbaugh and Martha (Larry) Hermiller all of Miller City; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers: Norman Balbaugh, Harold (Leoma) Balbaugh and Melvin (Carolyn) Balbaugh, all of Miller City; a sister: Mary Ida Schroeder of Kalida; and a sister-in-law: Velma Balbaugh of Glandorf.
Neil was preceded in death by an infant son: Charles Balbaugh; a grandson; a brother: Tom "Butch" Balbaugh; an infant sister: Dorothy Balbaugh; a foster brother: James (Leona) Machunas; a brother-in-law: Louis Schroeder; and a sister-in-law: Jo Ann Balbaugh.
Neil was owner/ operator with his wife, Mary, of Neil's Repair. He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Miller City, the Ottawa Knights of Columbus, the Putnam County Rail Fans and the Miller City Sportsman’s Club. Neil was also a member of the Palmer Township Zoning Board. He enjoyed many outdoor activities throughout his life.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 14, 2018 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Miller City with Msgr. Charles E. Singler officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be a Scripture Service at 1:45 p.m. and a K of C Rosary at 7:30 p.m.
