KALIDA - Dolores I. Verhoff, 91, of Kalida died at 12:40 a.m. Thursday, April 20, 2017 at The Meadows of Kalida. She was born February 13, 1926 at home in Putnam County, Ottawa Township to the late John F. and Martha (Kuhlman) Deters. On April 23, 1947 she married Ralph J. Verhoff who survives in Kalida.
Also surviving are seven children, Thomas (Diane) Verhoff, Timothy (Debra) Verhoff, Ted (Cheryl) Verhoff, and Gloria (James) Carr all of Kalida, Rebecca (Paul) Rosengarten of Miller City, Deborah (James) Bockrath and Sharon (Chuck) Smith both of Kalida; twenty-five grandchildren, Scott A. Meyers, Michelle (Bob) Fry, Kimberly Meyers, Timothy (Rachel) Meyers, Nicholas (Shari) Meyers, Kurt (Nicole) Rosengarten, Mindy (Erick) Gracely, Seth Rosengarten, Brent (Heather) Bockrath, Ned (Nikki) Bockrath, Brittany Bockrath, Benjamin Bockrath, Heidi Verhoff, Audrey (Brian) Beining, Emily (Adam) Chevalier, Molly (Jake) Kersh, Chelsea (Brett) Schnipke, Alyssa Verhoff, Justine Verhoff, Derek Verhoff, Tyler Verhoff, Kaylyn Verhoff, Trent Smith, Marissa Smith, Whitney Smith; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Angela (Wilfrid) Schulte of Ottawa, Viola Maag of Leipsic, Roselia Verhoff of Ottawa, and Beverly Leis of Miller City. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Kay Verhoff; a son-in-law, Dale Meyers; a brother, Harold (Catherine) Deters; four brothers-in-law, Alton Westrick, Omer Maag, Gerald Verhoff, and Lavon Leis.
Dolores was a homemaker and a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida and its Rosary Altar Society. She was a former member of St. Isidore Catholic Church, Cuba, Council 221 Catholic Ladies of Columbia and volunteered at Putnam Acres Care Center, Ottawa. Dolores enjoyed attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s various activities, polka dancing with friends, and traveling. She was an avid Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State Buckeye Fan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 24, 2017 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida with Fr. Mark Hoying officiating. Burial will follow in St. Isidore Cemetery, Cuba. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday and 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Kalida Park Fund, or to St. Michael's Church.
