Donald E. Meyer
OTTAWA - Donald E. Meyer, 83, of Ottawa died at 3:47 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2018 at The Meadows of Ottawa. He was born June 22, 1934 in Ottawa to the late Lawrence J. and Martha (Feltman) Meyer. On June 13, 1964 he married Doris L. Foley who survives in Ottawa.
Also surviving are two sisters: Dede Breece of Ottawa and Allie (Ray) Kohli of Columbus; and two sisters-in-law: Norma Jean Meyer of Ottawa and Anna Meyer of Glandorf.
Don was also preceded in death by his beloved dog, Daisy; three brothers: Bob (Dolores) Meyer, Ray Meyer, and Kenny Meyer; two sisters: Lillian (Evan) Neiswander and Vivian (Harold) Halker; and his brother-in-law, Louie Breece.
Don was a retired Street Commissioner for the Village of Ottawa. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa. He was also a member of the Ottawa Eagles, a social member of the Sons of the American Legion and the Ottawa VFW, and a member of the Ottawa Fire Department for 25 years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Matt Jozefiak officiating. Burial will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Ottawa. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Legion Post #63 or to Putnam Pet Pals.
