Elizabeth "Dolly" Basinger

   CLOVERDALE - Elizabeth "Dolly" Basinger, 89, of Cloverdale died at 9:14 p.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at the Defiance Inpatient Hospice. She was born November 8, 1929 in Cloverdale to the late Bryan and Mary (Matson) Ladd. On March 21, 1953 she married Pat D. Basinger who died May 14, 2001.

   She is survived by four children, Darwin Basinger, of Cloverdale, Michael (Joyce) Basinger of Ottoville, Patty (Steve) Hitchcock and Melinda (Rodney) Kesler both of Continental; six grandchildren, Jill Lloyd, Heather Hitchcock, Jason Simon, Holly Westrick, Ashley Crossgrove, and Colbey Basinger; 12 great-grandchildren, Amya Lloyd, Owen Lloyd, Harlow Etter, Myles Etter, Madalyn Simon, Mason Simon, Henley Westrick, Avah Basinger, Trysten Yordy, Gabriel Yordy, Ella Crossgrove, and Liliana Crossgrove; one brother, Paul (Barbara) Ladd of Cloverdale; six sisters, Alice Evans of Florida, Edna Halter and Marilyn (Carroll) Pier both of Oakwood, Margaret Strayer of Delphos, Connie Brown of Defiance, and Sue (Jerry) Wagner of Arthur. Also preceding her in death was a son, LeRoy Ladd; two brothers, Richard and William Ladd; and two sisters, Norma Swartz and Helen Scott.

   Dolly worked at Sylvania GTE formerly of Ottawa and for Paradise Oaks Nursing Home formerly of Cloverdale. She had a kind smile and very generous nature. She enjoyed playing cards, square dancing, bowling, and crocheting.  She attended sporting events for her children and grandchildren which she enjoyed very much.

   Funeral Services will be held 12 noon Monday, January 21, 2019 at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental with Pastor Chuck Schmunk officiating. Burial will follow in Cascade Cemetery, Cloverdale. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday and 11 a.m. until time of the service on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to Community Health Professionals Home Care and Hospice.
