Elmer E. Tobe
GLANDORF - Elmer E. Tobe, 65, of Glandorf died at 3:33 p.m. Monday, January 14, 2019 at his residence. He was born May 9, 1953 in Lima to Robert and Joan (Slattman) Tobe. His father is deceased, his mother survives in New Cleveland. On April 27, 1974 he married Marianne Ellerbrock who survives in Glandorf.
Also surviving are eight children, Joshua (Adrienne) Tobe of Glandorf, Jamie (Bradley) Duncan of Shawnee, Shannon (Joshua) Hadding, Sheila (Craig) Vorst, and Jason (Kelly) Tobe all of Glandorf, Nichole (Brian) Spears of Whitehouse, Nathan (Nicole) Tobe of Delphos, and Carissa (Uriah) Burke of Buffalo, NY; 21 grandchildren; three brothers, Michael (Doris) Tobe, Robert (Pamela) Tobe, Jr., and Mark Tobe all of New Cleveland; two sisters, Shirley (Dean) Goedde of Columbus Grove and Linda (Carl) Fagan of Leipsic; and a sister-in-law, Lois Tobe of Lima. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Roy Tobe.
Elmer retired in 2008 from General Motors in Defiance. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Glandorf, Miller City Sportsman's Club, and a life member of Ottawa Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed farming, spending time at the lake, and was a classic cars enthusiast. Elmer was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr. Tony Fortman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be a Scripture Service at 1:45 p.m. and a K of C Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
