Esther Trombley Obituary

Esther Trombley

GLANDORF - Esther “Rooney” Trombley passed away on June 1, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.  Rooney was born on December 22, 1948 to Wilbur and Emma (Walan) Morgan.  On April 27, 1968, she married Douglas Trombley, who survives in Glandorf.

She is survived by five children: Doug (Jamie), Dave, Dan (Isabel), Deanna (Darrin) Ward, and Dean (Beth).   Grandchildren: Jenna Ward, Carson, Lauren, Mason, Jillian, Riley, Breyson, Kayden, and Madalyn.  Brothers: Bob (Joan) and Sam and a sister Katie Raftery. She was preceded in death by a son Robert, daughter-in-law, Rebecca Trombley, sisters Martha and Jane, sister-in-law Millie, and brothers-in-law Robert and Loren.

She valued her family and friends and always put everyone before herself, giving selflessly to anyone. She faithfully gave blood throughout her life, donating over 11 ½ gallons.  She enjoyed her children and grandchildren, especially holiday and family gatherings.  Her passion was cooking and baking; everyone was family in her kitchen and many have fond memories of the many meals, desserts, and candies she prepared and shared around her kitchen table.  In addition, weekly “coffee club” grew through the years; many laughs and tears were shared around her kitchen table with her very special friends that she treasured dearly.  She loved to garden and produced many jars of her famous salsa that she so often gave to others. Having earned a high school varsity letter in swim, her dream was to have an in-ground pool of her own in her back yard to share her joy of swim with family and friends.  In 2001, her vision became reality!  She’s had the pleasure of watching many children and adults enjoy her dream through the years.

Known as “Mrs. T”, Rooney thoroughly enjoyed driving bus and being a teacher’s aide for 25+ years at Glandorf Elementary.  She was a mom to many children in her career often greeting them and sending them off, always with a smile.  She’s famous for the amount of teeth she removed without pain and the number of buttons she sewed on pants, shirts, and coats within the school day.

Rooney was a member of Glandorf St. Johns Parish where she was a Eucharistic minister for several years.
