Fred S. Merritte

   PAULDING – Fred S. Merritte, 79, of Paulding went home to be with the Lord at 12:09 p.m. Monday, June 10, 2019 at Paulding County Hospital. He was born September 2, 1939 in Estill, KY to the late Abraham and Beatrice (Johnson) Merritte. On June 6, 1959 he married Phyllis E. Grunden who survives in Paulding.

   Also surviving is a daughter, Christina (Antonio) Gonzales, Jr. of Paulding; one grandson, Tony (Amber) Gonzales; two great-grandchildren, Braelyn and Jerica Gonzales; and a sister, Janette Miller of Findlay. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Gregory Allen Merritte and Frederick Leland Merritte; and his siblings, Glen, Craig, and Randall Merritte, Roberta Bair, and Naomi Quigley.

   Fred was retired from Dana Weatherhead of Antwerp. He was a US Army veteran and a member of the Mandale Church.

   A Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2019 at Mandale Church with Pastor Tony Gonzales officiating. There will be military rites by the Paulding VFW after the service at church. Burial will be at a later date in Little Auglaize Cemetery, Melrose. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the church.

   Memorials may be made to the Mandale Church for their missionary work.
