G. Dean Spencer
OTTOVILLE - G. Dean Spencer, 71, of Evansville, IN, formerly of Ottoville, died at 4:49 p.m. Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne, IN. He was born March 24, 1947 in Lima to the late Howard and Irene (Bigelow) Spencer. On August 3, 1968 he married Gloria Van Oss who survives in Evansville, IN.
Also surviving is a son, Judd (Nichole) Spencer of Cloverdale; three grandchildren, Austin "Tazz" (Ali) Eickholt, Kelsi (Josh Rode) Dickman, and Nathan Geise; three great-grandchildren, Jenna Waye-Deatrick, Eric Eickholt, and Lauryn Eickholt; and a sister, Jacqueline (Michael) Spencer-Minch of Portland, IN. He was also preceded in death by a son, Eric Spencer; a brother, Jim Spencer; his sister, Beverly Shade; a nephew, Chad L. Staib; and a niece, Deana Shade.
Dean retired after 13 years as an instructor for Vantage JVS Vocational School and had worked for Chief Automotive Systems. Dean was an avid street rod enthusiast who prided himself in making it all come together and look good at the same time. He was a retired instructor who had a way of teaching that can't be taught, and repeated his methods that educated thousands.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 7, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville with the Very Reverend Jerome Schetter officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
