James W. "Krack" Unverferth
KALIDA - James W. "Krack" Unverferth, 63, of Kalida, peacefully died 3:57 p.m., on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at his residence with his wife by his side. He was born April 7, 1955 in Lima to the late Richard and Gladys (Pugh) Unverferth. On June 3, 1978, he married the love of his life, Joni Erhart and she survives in Kalida.
Also surviving are five children: Kerri (William) Romes, Kristen (Ryan) Stechschulte, Kyle (Becky) Unverferth all of Kalida, Kendra Unverferth of Columbus and Kevan (Andrea Bellmann) Unverferth of Kalida; eleven grandchildren: Elyse Romes, Malia Romes, Valarie Romes, Liam Romes, Paul Stechschulte, Gwen Stechschulte, Brynn Stechschulte, Nora Stechschulte, Ayden Unverferth, Rylan Unverferth and Calvyn Unverferth; and six brothers: Steve (Linda) Unverferth, Joe (Kay) Unverferth both of Kalida, Jeff (Debbie) Unverferth of Sylvania, Larry (Kathy) Unverferth, Dave (Becky) Unverferth and Chad (Chellie) Unverferth all of Kalida.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Keith Unverferth, and a brother, Mark Unverferth.
Jim was the owner and President of HCF Management Inc. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida and the Kalida Lions Club. He currently presided on the board for the Lima YMCA, Lima Chamber of Commerce, Lima Memorial Hospital and Ohio Health Care Association and a former board member of The Ohio State University, Lima campus and the Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities. Jim was a recipient of the 2018 Grand Marshal for the Kalida Pioneer Parade and 2013 Athena Leadership Award. He was a graduate of Kalida High School and St. Joseph's College.
A Mass of Christian burial will begin 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 4, 2018 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida with Fr. Mark Hoying officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Twp and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass at the church Thursday.
Memorial donations may be made to the Educational Foundation of the OHCA scholarship fund, Putnam County Habitat for Humanity and the Kalida Four Season's Park.
