Joyce H. Smith

  GLANDORF - Joyce H. Smith, 63, of Glandorf died 4:15 a.m., Friday, September 1, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her family.  She was born September 7, 1953 in Lima to the late Francis W. and Ruth J. (Palte) Hermiller.  On November 22, 1975, she married Tom Smith who survives in Glandorf.

  Also surviving are five children: Marty (Frank) Zbierajewski of Sylvania, Jayme (Curt) Miller of Glandorf, Amber (Adam) Maidment of Bowling Green, Brittany (Andy) Fortman of Kalida and Logan (Kristi) Smith of Glandorf; thirteen grandchildren and one on the way: Gabriel Zbierajewski, William Zbierajewski, Jackson Zbierajewski, Claira Zbierajewski, Emmit Miller, Graham Miller, Reese Miller, Wyatt Maidment, Gretta Maidment, Norah Maidment, Olivia Fortman, Owen Fortman, and Evelynne Smith; ten siblings: William F. Hermiller of Enon, June (Clete) Buddelmeyer of Fairborn, Thomas (Janet) Hermiller of Columbus Grove, Timothy (Janet) Hermiller of Ottawa, Mary (Dave) Warnecke of Ottawa, Kay (Fred) Warren of Ottawa, Steve (Judy) Hermiller of Ottawa, Charles (Masae) Hermiller of San Antonio, TX, Jon "Jerry" (Amy) Hermiller of Glandorf and Michael (Laura) Hermiller of Glandorf; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

  She was also preceded in death by a brother, James Hermiller; and a brother-in-law, Michael Walker.

  Joyce was a hairdresser and the owner of Headquarters formerly in Ottawa.  She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf where she was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of its Altar Rosary Society.  Joyce loved to bake, decorate cakes, garden, traveling, especially the beach, and being outside.  She was selfless, a very friendly person and never knew a stranger.   She especially enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren.

  A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr. Tony Fortman officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be from 6-8 Sunday and 2-8 Monday a LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where a scripture service will begin at 1:45 p.m. Monday. 

  Memorial donations may be made to the Putnam County Home Health and Hospice.
