GLANDORF - Marcus J. "Jack" Roof, 73, of Glandorf, died 1:58 p.m., Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. He was born August 21, 1944 in Kenton, to the late Ferdinand and Marcella (Maag) Roof. On September 5, 1970, he married Frances Schmersal and she survives in Glandorf.
Other survivors include three daughters: Nancy (Bill) Keeran of Deshler, Sandy (Troy) Brostrom of Bath and Sarah Roof of Maumee; four grandchildren: Emily Keeran, Noah Keeran, Allyson Brostrom and Brayden Brostrom; three sisters: Sr. Lou Ann Roof, C.PP.S. of Dayton, Helen (Carl) Brinkman of Ottawa and Carolyn (Melvin) Balbaugh of Miller City; and a sister-in-law, Cynthia Roof of Marion.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Roof.
Marcus was a Journeyman Electrician and retired from Philips Display Components, formerly of Ottawa on November 30, 1999 as well as a lifelong farmer. After retirement, he was an inside sales representative with Powerhouse of Ottawa and worked at Kohls Market in Ottawa. Marcus was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf and Eucharistic Minister. He was also a US National Guard Veteran, member of the Ottawa Knights of Columbus and its 4th Degree, Ottawa American Legion Post 63 and the Quarter Century Club. Marcus enjoyed camping, time with his family, especially grandchildren, O-G Titan sports and had quite the sweet tooth. He was dearly loved by his family and will be greatly missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 11, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr. Tony Fortman and Fr. Rick Friebel officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by the Ottawa Am. Legion, VFW and Am Vets. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m., Friday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where a K of C Rosary will begin at 7:30 p.m.
