Rachel R. Rau
CONTINENTAL - Rachel R. Rau, 74, of Continental died at 5:40 a.m. Friday, December 7, 2018 at her residence. She was born June 6, 1944 in Summersville, GA to the late Paul H. and Effie (Parkerson) Love. In 1955 she was adopted by her beloved parents, Al and Marnie Patton. They are deceased. On October 19, 1968 she married Frederick Rau who survives in Continental.
Also surviving are two children, Marnie (Kolbi) Shartzer of York County, VA and Cary (Nicole) Rau of Findlay; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; three brothers, Henry (Delcie) Love of Coleraine Hill, AL, Robert (Ann) Love of Selma, AL; and Sidney (Linda) Love of Selma, AL. Also preceding her in death was her sister, Elizabeth Morgan and her special friends, Alma and Carol Seimet.
Rachel attended Berkley Secretarial School in White Plains, NY from 1962- 1963. She was a secretary in the 60's for Billboard Publishing and had been a secretary for Defiance College where she met her husband. Rachel then worked for Korner Pizza in Ayersville. She was a Girl Scout Leader and worked for the American Red Cross where she taught First-aide and CPR for 20 years.
A Funeral Service will be held 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental with Pastor Chuck Schmunk and Kolbi Shartzer officiating. Burial will follow in Monroe Cemetery, Continental. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
