Ottawa – Richard H. Moening, 79, of Ottawa died 1:30 a.m. Friday, March 31, 2017 at The Meadows of Ottawa. He was born January 18, 1938 in Ottawa to the late Leander B. and Alberta L. (Ricker) Moening. On September 26, 1959, he married Carol Roby who survives in Ottawa.
Richard is also survived by five children: Rick Moening and Tonnie (Dan) Leopold all of Ottawa, Lorrie (Mike) Niese of Middle Point, Terri (Jay) Warnecke of Ottawa and Amy (Ben) Ellerbrock of Leipsic; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers: Ray (Joan) Moening of Ft. Jennings, Denny (Linda) Moening and Gary (Kathy) Moening both from Ottawa, Mike (Jane) Moening of Kalida; 3 sisters: Barbara Kleman of Ottawa, Janet Peck of Leipsic, Donna (Gary) Miller of Bluffton; and a brother-in-law: Richard Cramer. He is also preceded in death by his daughter, Julie; a sister, Eileen Cramer; and a brother-in-law, Norm Kleman.
Richard was a contractor. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa and a member of Ottawa’s Eagles. He loved woodworking, camping and fishing, playing horseshoes, vacationing in Florida, old country music and putting puzzles together with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, with Fr. Matt Jozefiak officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
