Ruth E. Stinson

Ottawa - Ruth E. Stinson, 84, of Ottawa died 5:15 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2017 at the Meadows of Ottawa.  She was born November 11, 1932 in South Plainfield, New Jersey to the late Clarence and Freda (Seabode) Donnelly.  She was proceeded in death by her husband, Kenneth M. Stinson and her daughter, Debbie Stinson.

Ruth is survived by  her son: Kurt and daughter-in-law, Kathie Stinson and her grandchildren: Kiowa and Dakota Stinson.  Ruth also has a niece and nephew, Cynthia (Hansen) Eckertt and Scott Hansen, as well as a cousin, Donna Salomone.

Ruth worked for West Morris Central Schools of New Jersey, for 25 years, as a school bus driver, before retiring and moving to Ottawa in 1986.  She and her husband had originally planned to move further out west, however, after a visit with her sister and brother-in-law, Eve and Don DeBrandt in Ottawa, they fell in love with their property off of Rt. 15 and decided to move here.

Her entire life, Ruth loved to fish, watch birds and be on or near the water.  The tranquility and peacefulness of nature made her feel relaxed and at home.  Ruth loved the ocean, its waves and the sand.  She loved other people and making new friends, while simultaneously being completely content with her own company.  Ruth loved to knit, and was well known for her sweaters she often made for friends and families for new born babies.  Ruth loved to read and would often stay up into the early morning hours, getting caught up in the stories.  Ruth loved to laugh and others laugh.

Ruth made many friends at the Meadows of Ottawa and Home Health.  They were very important wonderful people to her and she dearly loved them.  Most of all, she loved her family and would do anything for them.

Ruth was funny, incredibly thoughtful, sweet, kind and a selfless person.  She would do anything for anyone and will be missed by many.

A Celebration of her life will be Saturday, June 24, 2017 beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the home of Kurt and Kathleen Stinson, 8150 Rd. 15, Ottawa.
