Violet Jean Jespersen
LEIPSIC – Violet Jean Jespersen, 95, of Leipsic went to be with her Lord on Sunday, May 12, 2019 at her residence. She was born January 19, 1924 in Detroit, MI to the late George and Bernice Fedraw. She married the love of her life, Harold “Jess” Jespersen on October 11, 1946 and enjoyed a 64 year adventure. Jess died February 12, 2011. Jean served as a Lady Marine during WWII in Washington, D.C. for 2 ½ years where she wrote congressional letters to families of deceased soldiers.
Jean was a devoted wife and mother to their two beautiful daughters: Mary Ann (David) Stokes of Livonia, MI and Elaine (David) Goodwin of Leipsic. She was grandmother to Jason (Amanda) Goodwin, Neil (Amanda) Goodwin, Brian (Alexandra) Goodwin and Emily Goodwin; great-grandmother to Elyse, Meredith, Leyna and Landon Goodwin. Her sister: Charlotte Sherman survives.
Jean was involved in many school, church and community interests: Brownies, Scouts, and School board while in Detroit. She attended and served at the Ottawa Missionary Church as MOPS Titus Teacher, Kitchen chairperson, teacher and ladies board member. She also served as bloodmobile chairperson for 25 years, was former member of the Red Cross Board and the Meadows of Leipsic in Body recall.
Jean now joins her husband, their four little babies and her sister: Shirley Fedraw. “I am grateful to all the people who have touched my life and for those who allowed me to touch theirs”
A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2019 in the Lilac Room at the Meadows of Leipsic with Rev. Marshal Metzger officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
