Violet R. Shisler

OAKWOOD - Violet R. Shisler, 90 of Oakwood, passed away at 5:08 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Defiance Inpatient Hospice.  Violet was born October 15, 1928 in Defiance, to the late Clyde and Revella (Osborn) Geren.  On August 17, 1947 she married Burtnet Shisler, he died in November 1985.

She is survived by her four children:  Cynthia Burkett of Belleview, FL, Lowell (Sue) Shisler of Oakwood, Karen (Eric) Elston of Oakwood, and Larry (Marsha) Shisler of Akron; eleven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Violet is preceded in death by two sisters:  Luella Spencer and Mary Flory.

She and her husband formerly owned the Charloe Snow Cone.  Violet was a life member of the VFW in Defiance.  She lived in Florida for 32 years and then moved to Paulding, where she has lived for the past 5 years.  When she lived in Oakwood, she attended the Oakwood United Methodist Church.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Oakwood with Pastor Eileen Kochensparger officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Chapel Cemetery, Oakwood.  Visitation will be on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.  Memorial contributions may be made to Defiance Inpatient Hospice.
