   On Wednesday, May 8, 2019, Yvette Haviv has peacefully passed away at 91 years of age at The Meadows of Leipsic. Yvette was born in Istanbul, Turkey on March 26, 1928 to Alice and Shlomo Kario. She graduated Notre Dame de Sion High School with honors. During WW2, while still in high school in Istanbul, she joined the movement to establish a State for the Jewish people. Yvette married Israel “Izzy” Haviv whom she’s met in the movement. The week after the wedding, they made Aliah and moved to Israel to join the making of the newly established State of Israel. Over the next 50 years Yvette served the State of Israel in many functions-At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as a diplomat with her husband in Ethiopia, Rumania and France and then for 25 years on the PR team of the Presidents of Israel. Later in life she graduated Tel Aviv University in Art History. She also spoke 7 languages. Yvette was learned, smart, vivacious, a great dancer and very loving. She was an idealist like many others of her generation who had dreamt of creating a country that may become light unto nations. She was a fierce fighter for social and economic justice, equality and peace making. Yvette touched the heart, imagination, and soul of anyone who met her. Yvette was a friend to all and all were her friends. Yvette lived in Jerusalem, Tel-Aviv, and finally in Ohio near her close family. Yvette is survived by her sister, Lilika Hyatt in (Mclean, Virginia) her son, Shlomo Haviv and his wife Amanda Haviv and their children, Tom (NYC), Liam, Clara, Jarrod and Brooke (Ottawa) and her son, Daniel Haviv and his wife Ilana (Raleigh, NC) and his children, Jonathan and Daphne )NYC). Yvette joined her husband and partner, Izzy who passed away 12 years ago.

   Private services will be held in Virginia and Israel.
