Bertha J. Bibler
CONTINENTAL – Bertha J. Bibler, 79, of Continental, died at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima. She was born on February 3, 1943 in Continental to the late Eugen and Alverta (Murbaugh) Roehrle. On August 18, 1963, she married Rolland C. Bibler, who preceded her in death on November 20, 2009.
Survivors include three children: Jodi May, Curt (Sarah) Bibler, both of Continental and Kelly (Scott) Sarka of Cloverdale; 5 grandchildren: Brianna Sarka, Christina Sarka, Kaytlin (Hayden) Ward, Noah Bibler and Caleb Bibler; and a sister, Anna Louise Roque of Ann Arbor, MI.
She was also preceded in death by two grandchildren; a brother, Frederick (Dorothy) Roehrle; and brother-in-law, Paco Roque.
Bertha graduated from Bluffton College in 1966 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She retired from Continental Local Schools, where she was a 6th grade teacher. She was a member of The Free Christian Church of God, Continental and The Progress Thru Parenthood CCL of Continental. On April 25, 1994, she had a heart transplant at The Ohio State University. She surprised the medical community for living 28 years with her transplanted heart. Bertha loved spending time with her family, especially her 5 grandchildren.
A funeral service will begin 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at Free Christian Church of God, Continental with Rev. James Fry officiating. Burial will follow at Monroe Cemetery, Continental. Visitation will be held from 2 – 8 p.m. on Monday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental and 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. at the church.
