Betty L. Bellman
LEIPSIC - Betty L. Bellman, 90, of Leipsic, died peacefully at her home at 11:40 a.m. on Thursday, April 29, 2021. Betty was born June 2, 1930 in Hamler, Ohio to the late Ernest W. and Edna M. (Reimund) Fike. She married Richard Bernard Bellman on October 20, 1951 who preceded her in death on January 14, 2016.
Survivors include five children: Larry Bellman of Westerville, Carl (Susan Baker) Bellman of Harbor Springs, MI, Faye Bellman-Yohe of Ottawa, Steve (Rhonda) Bellman of Bluffton, and Joyce (Larry) Gordon of Ann Arbor, MI; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren, and one step-great-great-grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by two children: Mary Lou Bellman and Kenneth Bellman; two grandsons: Matthew Yohe and Christopher Yohe; a brother, Robert Fike and a sister, Helen Binger.
Betty was Secretary/Treasurer of the Bellman Lumber Company from 1970 through 2015 when the business was sold. She was Treasurer of the Leipsic Chamber of Commerce, and Women’s Bowling League for many years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Leipsic and served as Altar Rosary Treasurer for many years.
Betty had a passion for bowling and traveled with her bowling league friends to 21 national bowling tournaments across the country winning many awards over the years. She placed 87th out of approximately 30,000 women bowlers in Ft. Lauderdale in 2001. She and Richard also enjoyed the company of friends in many weekend polka dances over the years. She was also a member of the Golden Steppers Line Dancers and the Red Hat Society. She volunteered with the Red Cross Bloodmobile, the election board and at the Meadows of Leipsic.
Funeral mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 1, 2021 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic with Fr. William Pifher officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Leipsic. In keeping with social distancing, visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Friday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic, as well as one hour prior to the mass on Saturday at the Parish Life Center.
