Bill B. Smith, Jr.

  LEIPSIC – Bill B. Smith, Jr, 85, of Leipsic, died at 1:12 p.m., Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay.  He was born August 3, 1935 in Richland, VA to the late William and Lena (Gillespie) Smith.  On November 17, 1989, he married Rita (Rubio) Smith and she survives in Leipsic.

  Other survivors include his children: Richard Smith, Robert Smith, Greg Smith, Beverly Smith, Sharon Smith, Oscar (Cindy) Gonzalez, Ruben (Jolene) Gonzalez, Becky Escobar, Della (Doug) Niese and Tracy (Alma) Gonzalez;  12 grandchildren: Sara, Steph, Brea, Theresa, Erica, Ray Jr., Ben, Katie, Jasmine, Sonny, Josh and Toby;  28 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson.

  He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ashley.

  Bill was a U.S. Army veteran and served from November of 1953 to April of 1964.

Bill retired from Campbell Soup in Napoleon. After he retired, he became a cook for the University of Findlay.  He loved to run and spend time with his family.  He would always go above and beyond for his family and friends.

  Bill's funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 10, 2021 at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic with Pastor Juan Salinas officiating.  Burial will follow in Sugar Ridge Cemetery, Leipsic with military rites by the Leipsic American Legion.  Visitation will be Saturday, July 10, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family.
