Charles J. "Jay" Verhoff
OTTAWA - Charles J. "Jay" Verhoff, 63, of Ottawa died at 10:05 p.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at the Meadows of Ottawa. He was born March 23, 1957 in Lima to the late Thomas and Arleen (Hovest) Verhoff.
Jay is survived by his sisters: Sandy Verhoff, with whom he had a very special bond with, and Nancy (Bill) Schroeder, both of Ottawa; his brother: Dan (Linda) Verhoff, also of Ottawa; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews, who he loved to tease and spend time with.
Jay was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, where he was a minister of praise. Jay had an ornery sense of humor. He loved all kinds of music, and especially loved playing the tambourine. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, and going to car shows. Jay also enjoyed collecting hats, baseball caps and pens.
Funeral mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, with Father Scott Kramer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A private visitation will be held. Masks will be required upon entering the church. Mass will be live streamed on the church’s Facebook page.
