Craig Verhoff Obituary

Craig Louis Verhoff

OTTAWA – Craig Louis Verhoff, 65 of Ottawa, Ohio passed away 7:15 a.m. on Monday, November 22, 2021 at his residence of natural causes.  He was born to James "Jim" and Florence (Vennekotter) Verhoff on February 16, 1956.  In 1975, he met the love of his life, Sharon Luersman. On April 15, 1978 they were married in Ottoville, Ohio.

Craig worked for National Lime and Stone for over 20 years. He was a heavy equipment operator working with various machines throughout his career. He had also worked for the Putnam County Office of Public Safety as an ambulance driver.  Craig was a member of Freedom Church in Ottawa, Ohio. His faith in Christ guided him through his life. He clung to the truth that God is in control and He would provide.  This faith led to his fun-loving attitude in all seasons of life. Craig was full of joy and loved to joke and tease. He had many one liners and could always make you smile. Craig was a family man. He loved his wife, Sharon, their children, Keith Verhoff, Angela (Scot) Keck, Curtis (Amanda) Verhoff and Stacey Verhoff, along with his grandchildren, Raelynn, Fiona, Hunter, Silas and Arlo unconditionally. He enjoyed helping them and supporting them in all their endeavors. Nothing made him happier then to spend time with his family. Craig was a generous giver. Over the years, he donated his time to Habitat for Humanity and donated four gallons of blood (from July 2018- July 2021) to the American Red Cross.  He was always willing to lend a hand to help whenever needed. He helped many family members, friends and strangers work on their homes, vehicles and other projects. He was a true jack of all trades.

Craig is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren and siblings, Diane (Bill) Rieman, Michael (Bev) Verhoff, Charlene (Bob) Pochadt, Nicholas (Bonnie) Verhoff, Gerard (Jeanie) Verhoff, Christina Haselman, Douglas Verhoff, Jeanne (Tom) Wenzinger, Beth (Jim) Schumaker, Philip (Cheri) Verhoff and Eric (Cindy) Verhoff.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Florence Verhoff, a brother, Aaron Verhoff, a brother-in-law, Chuck Haselman, a sister-in-law, Vickie Verhoff and a father-in-law, Edward Luersman.
