Daniel J. Stechschulte
FORT JENNINGS - Daniel J. Stechschulte, 70, of Fort Jennings, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at 1:33 a.m. at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima. He was born September 10, 1952 in Lima to the late Tom and Mid (Martin) Stechschulte. On May 14, 1977, he married the love of his life, Alice J. Hemker, she survives in Fort Jennings.
Also surviving are four children: Mindy (Dennis) Siebeneck, Dawn (Doug) Bockrath, both of Kalida, Lance (Billie) Stechschulte of Lima, and Kyle (Jodi) Stechschulte of Fort Jennings; ten grandchildren and one on the way: Owen and Lyla Siebeneck, Morgan, Avery and Hayden Bockrath, Cindy Wilson, Kate and Grant Stechschulte, Kali, Paige and baby Stechschulte; six siblings: Mike (Sue) Stechschulte of Ottawa, Pam (Steve) Merricle of Sterling Heights, MI., Carol (Steve) Rode, Gary (Rose) Stechschulte, Jeff (Mitsie) Stechschulte, all of Fort Jennings, and Joe (Ronda) Stechschulte of Lima.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Stechschulte.
Dan retired from General Motors, Defiance after 44 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Fort Jennings American Legion, as well as St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Jennings where he served as an usher. Dan was a fan of The Ohio State University and he enjoyed camping, fishing, and going on vacations.
Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Jennings with Father Charles Obinwa officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by the Fort Jennings American Legion. A visitation will be held on Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township, where there will be an American Legion Service at 7:00 p.m., and again on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
