David E. Beckett
OTTAWA – David E. Beckett, 67, of Ottawa, passed away at 3:29 p.m. on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at his residence. He was born October 15, 1954 in Huntington, WV to the late Jack and Phyllis “Joni” (Bailey) Beckett. On March 23, 1973, he married Marlene Stechschulte, she survives in Ottawa.
David is also survived by two sons: Craig (Caren) Beckett, and Jason (Erin) Beckett, both of Ottawa; four grandchildren: Marissa, Samantha, Griffin and Reid Beckett; six siblings: Beverly (Tom) Gustwiller, Peg (Ron) Kruse, both of Ottawa, Patti Beckett-Leslie of Findlay, John "Mike" (Barbara) Beckett of Texas, Phillip “Dan” (Jennifer) Beckett of Findlay, and Bill Beckett of Louisiana.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Sally Beckett; and a brother, Mark Beckett.
David was an Air Force veteran, and retired from the Air National Guard as a Master Sgt. He was a former member of the Ottawa Fire Department and served on the Board of Public Affairs, Planning Commission and Park Board. David was a Councilman for the Village of Ottawa from 2006 – 2013. He was a former Boy Scout Leader for Troop 224. David was a member of the American Legion Post 63, Ottawa Eagles and the Odd Fellows. He had worked at Philips Display Component and a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 22, 2021 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Father Tony Fortman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by Ottawa VFW, American Legion and Amvets. A visitation will be held on Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at the American Legion Post 63 at 1:00 p.m. The family invites all to enjoy lunch, drinks and memories.
