David A. Ricker

  OTTOVILLE - David A. Ricker, 73, of Ottoville, passed away at 3:21 a.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.  He was born June 24, 1949, in Lima, to the late Alfred and Elizabeth (Epping) Ricker.  On July 12, 1969, he married Connie Heitmeyer, she survives in Ottoville.

   Dave is also survived by three children: Jeffrey (Sabrina) Ricker of Van Wert, Jodi (Joe) Birr of Ottoville, and Kellie (Derek) Sterling of Delphos; five grandchildren: Tyler and Emma Birr, Kennedy Sterling, Aubrey and Jenna Ricker; two brothers: Louis (Ruth) Ricker of Ottoville, and John (Karen) Ricker of Cloverdale; and a sister-in-law: Patricia Ricker of Colorado.

  He is preceded in death by two brothers, Victor and Donnie Ricker.

  Dave retired from Robertson Heating and Supply, Lima where he worked as a salesman.  He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Ottoville, Delphos Country Club, Ottoville Jaycees and the Ottoville VFW 3740 Auxiliary. Dave was also a member of the Ottoville Volunteer Fire Department from 1981 until he retired in 2003, where he served as the chief from 1988 to 1992, and a former EMT.  He enjoyed golfing and card games of all sorts.  Dave also enjoyed watching the grandkid’s activities.

  Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville with Father George Mahas officiating.  Burial will follow at the church cemetery.  A visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township, with a scripture service beginning at 1:30 p.m.
