Dolores T. Meyer

  OTTAWA - Dolores T. Meyer, 92, of Ottawa died 9:50 a.m., Sunday, January 13, 2019 at The Meadows of Ottawa.  She was born November 5, 1926 in Ottawa to the late Lawrence and Lena (Becker) Hoffman.  On June 9, 1949, she married Donald J. Meyer.  He died August 21, 2004.

  Survivors include three children: Larry (Ginny) Meyer of Ottawa, Amy (Frank) Hanson of Cincinnati and Wendy (Mark) Fessler of Wilmette, IL; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Karl (Rosie) Hoffman of Columbus Grove; a sister, Mary (Dick) Shilling of Fairfield, TN; and a sister-in-law, Marie Hoffman of Pasadena, FL.

  She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Terri Odenweller; a daughter and son-in-law, Kay (Rick) Tweddell; a brother, Oscar Hoffman; and a brother and sister-in-law, Robert (Rosemary) Hoffman.

  Dolores worked as a legal secretary for various law firms.  She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and its Rosary Altar Society.  Her faith was very important to her and she was a Minister of Praise.  She was also a member of Euchre club, Diapers to Diamonds Mother's Club, active in the American Cancer Society as well as Alternatives to Abortion.  Dolores dearly loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She loved to read, dance, sing in German, play bingo and cards, bowling, crossword puzzles and traveling with Don.  Dolores also enjoyed knitting and needlepoint work and had made several items for her family.   Dolores had numerous friends in her community and was well known for her kind and generous nature.  She loved to laugh and her smile lit up the room.

  A Mass of Christian Burial will begin 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Matt Jozefiak officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m., Tuesday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where a rosary will begin at 7:45 p.m. 

  Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, SPPC Capital Campaign or Putnam County Hospice.
