Donald L. Riepenhoff
GLANDORF – Donald L. Riepenhoff, 74, of Glandorf died 3:59 p.m., Friday, November 17, 2023 at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima. He was born March 30, 1949 in Lima to the late Thomas and Edna (Recker) Riepenhoff. On September 29, 1973, he married Virginia “Ginnie” Luersman and she survives in Glandorf.
Also surviving are five children: Greg Riepenhoff of Ottoville, Dale Riepenhoff of Avis, Mark Riepenhoff of Avis, Brad (Richelle) Riepenhoff of Glandorf and Brenda Riepenhoff of Brooklyn New York; a grandson, Gage Riepenhoff; four siblings: Alvin (Judy) Riepenhoff of Glandorf, Roseann (Dave) Hermiller of Miller City, Joan (Denny) Karhoff of Glandorf and Linda Ellerbrock of Ottawa; and a sister-in-law, Rose Riepenhoff of Ottawa.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Roger Riepenhoff.
Don was a mechanic for Nienberg Supply and loved farming, handling over 975,000 straw and hay bales over a storied 65 year farming career. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf where he ushered; original charter member of the South Avis Social Club; and Ottawa Knights of Columbus. Don was a US Army Veteran and a life member of the Ottawa American Legion Post 63 for over 52 years. He was a true family man and always found time to talk with people. Don and Ginnie especially enjoyed their bus trips together.
Funeral mass will begin at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr. Matt Keller officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by the Ottawa American Legion, VFW, AmVets and DAV. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Monday, 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the funeral Wednesday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa. K of C rosary will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
